Garbage Collection: The town provides a once per week garbage pickup and a 95-gallon container to place garbage and bags into for collection. Place all garbage in the container. Overloaded containers will not be picked up. Sanitation employees will not collect anything placed on the ground or pick up other containers not authorized by the Town. Place containers at the curb for collection. Do NOT mix yard waste with garbage. The landfill does not accept yard waste. Cardboard boxes should be broken down and placed out for the recycling program.
Large Items/Extra Refuse: Three times per year in the spring, summer and fall the Town provides dumpsters for disposal of large items and/or extra refuse for residents. (Watch local papers for dates, times, and information.
Yard Waste: Collected every other week on the same day as recycling. Vegetative material may be places in either two (2) 32-gallon trash cans clearly marked "yard waste" (stickers available at the town hall) or (3) biodegradable paper yard waste bags per pickup. VEGETABLE MATERIAL ONLY. No dirt, rock, trash, etc...
Limbs: Should be bundled in 4 to 5 foot lengths tied securely with baling string or cord. Two(2) bundles per pickup. Up to 15 larger limbs, diameter no larger than 3 inches, may be placed at the curb, with the cut end toward the street. Residents with more yard waste may dispose of it at the local compost site, located in Clark County.
Leaves: Beginning in mid-October, the Town provides leaf pickup on a weekly basis. Leaves are to be placed at the curb in PAPER BAGS. We encourage mulching or composting of leaves, but there is no limit to the number of bags you may set out. This service ends in December.
Christmas Trees: Will be picked up following the holidays. Place them at the curb on your regular trash day. Remove all decorations and bags.
Leash Law: All animals, including cats, must be restrained at all times. This is enforced by Sellersburg Animal Control.
